Municipality of Compostela – Compostela Valley State College through its Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management Office virtually pitched CPH Cork Board product to potential investors during the 3rd DOST PCAARRD Technology Pitch Day dated May 27, 2021.
Ms. Rona C. Apolinario, R&E Branch Head-New Bataan, and Mr. Lee M. Serot, Science Research Assistant-CVSC IPTBM project, represented the College on presenting the product during the forum.
The technology product was developed through the research study entitled, “Utilization of Cacao Pod Husk as Cork board”, of Mr. Jeric R. Camillotes, Bachelor of Agricultural Technology student, under the guidance of Mr. Domy Bonn M. Untalan as adviser.
The developed technology was filed for patent protection dated September 24, 2020.
The CPH cork board has soft surface with higher compressibility and high flame resistance characteristics that is resilient for heavy usage (best suited to use as bulletin or pin board and wall art décor). It is also harmless for those who have skin allergies from wood dust and chemicals for it is made from natural materials. It can also be readily produced with a good return investment.
The Technology Pitch Day is an event culminated the four-month/five module Technology Commercialization Mentorship Series which capacitated 60 technology transfer officers/researchers under the DOST-PCAARRD funder program entitled “Support to the University’s Strategies in Technology Acceleration Initiatives by Nurturing (SUSTAIN) the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) Offices of the Consortia Member Agencies – Phase II”.
The program involves thirty (30) state universities and colleges (SUC) with the Compostela Valley State College.
