The State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Regional Games 2019 with the theme “Bridging the Gap through Sports in Public Higher Education Institution” had its enthralling opening at Compostela Valley State College (CVSC) Main Campus last April 22-26, 2019. The five-day sports joust is officially hosted by CVSC under the leadership of the College President, Dr. Christie Jean V. Ganiera.
The SCUAA 2019 opening started with a parade around the poblacion participated in by 1,300 athletic delegations coming from the six (6) PASUC XI – member schools: Davao del Norte State College (DNSC); Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU); University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) divided into South and North; Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST); (University of the Philippines (UP) – Mindanao; and the host school CVSC.
As the host institution of this year’s Regional SCUAA Games, Dr. Ganiera proudly welcomed the participants and further expressed her great pride in accepting the privilege of hosting such regional event. “It is our pleasure to be of service to you in this 5-day event. Good luck to all of us as we foster a healthy competition towards upholding the principle of human development in a total package”, Dr. Ganiera stressed.
Congresswoman Maria Carmen “Maricar” S. Zamora, graced the event as the Keynote Speaker. “As this representation’s brainchild, we have seen how CVSC has grown from its fledgling state some years back to where it is now, very capable of hosting big events such as this sporting spectacle”, Cong. Maricar highlighted.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, Chair of PASUC XI, who served as the final declaration of the 3rd PASUC-XI SCUAA Games 2019 shared her deepest gratitude in CVSC especially to Dr. Ganiera in making the event possible, to the unending support of the Provincial Government of ComVal and to the municipalities of Compostela and Montevista for co-hosting the event with CVSC. She also sent her wishes and good lucks to all the delegates and to those who will be the representatives of Region XI in the nationals.
On the other hand, CVSC snatched 12 golds, 16 silvers and 18 bronze with an overall ranking to the 3rd place. The college joined this regional game for the third time that usually serves as qualifying for the national games and bagged these awards this time. The following are the wins of CVSC:

Healthy sports competition promotes awareness among students of the role of sports in harmonizing their academics, moral and physical development. With this, CVSC once again proved that this is a manifestation of unprecedented growth of the college with these kinds of events. CVSC is truly far from what we have started.
