Compostela Valley State College –A total of 35 senior citizens celebrate with CVSC during the Senior Citizens’ Month Celebration last October 26, 2018 held at CVSC Dome, initiated by the Office of the College President thru the Office of Student Affairs and Services.
With this year’s theme, “Kilalanin at Parangalan: Tagasulong ng Karapatan ng Nakatatanda Tungo sa Lipunang Mapangkalinga.”, this celebration aims to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate with our seniors and to celebrate their lives, accomplishments, wisdom, and knowledge. As crafted in the Republic Act 10868, it was declared the first week of October as Elderly Filipino Week to honor senior citizens.
Through the help of College Student Council (CSC) and Golden Cornucopia, the said affair was successful as intensified with fun and enjoyment of our seniors. Moreover, they were accommodated with special services like free lunch, massage, manicure/pedicure, make-over and medical check-up.
“We are doing this not just because we are mandated to do so, but because as human beings it must be our prime responsibility to take care of our elders whom we owed much of what we are today.”, Dr. Ganiera in her message stressed.
Meanwhile, the students, faculty and staff enjoyed the program as seniors showcased their talents in singing, dancing and modeling led by Linus Dias, a 61-year old student of BSEd-English in CVSC-Maragusan and Rodrigo Gutang, also 61-year old student of BSE in CVSC-New Bataan.
In the end, our seniors were thankful for the opportunity of inviting them and celebrating their month of success.
