In lieu of the implementation of Republic Act 10931 or Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, seven new scholars from the Compostela Valley State College-Main campus under the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP) were handed the cash refund from the excess of their Php10,000 semestral allowance today.
Rechelle Dawn Intrepido, Jowiellen Merlyn, Jofran Retiza, Mary Joy Catap, Marie Sol Capisnon, Arnel Jagmoc, and Rosefin Maravillas received the said reimbursement as they all qualify for the full government subsidy available for all students enrolled in SUCs as outlined in the aforementioned law.
CVSC Scholarship Coordinator Weneberth Terez and OSAS Director Mary Dane Remulta under the behest of Bonee Jaye B. Bagaipo, Family Welfare Officer-Compostela Valley, spearheaded the implementation of the refund as requested by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office XI Director Eduardo Bellido.
Other ODSP grantees in the main campus are Judy Ann Algones, Jeelou Hayana, and Melodino Talisic Jr. while seven other are from the New Bataan and Montevista campuses.
Dr. Christie Jean V. Ganiera, meanwhile, challenged the grantees to maintain high academic performance as they are part of the lucky few to avail of the said OWWA scholarship. Also, the president expressed her pride in the fact that the College was chosen as one of the recipients of the limited slots of the mentioned grant.
