Compostela National High School bested out 12 other contingents from public and private high schools across the province en route to copping the 1st place in the recently concluded inaugural Compostela Valley Brain Olympics held at the Compostela Valley State College-Main campus yesterday.
The Jaime Alegado-coached CNHS delegation, composed of Cheney Morre, Jay Ryan Erbito, and Ram Julius Marababol, also copped the three highest individual scores for the one-day event which focused on Language, Sciences, and Mathematics sponsored by CVSC.
Lotis May Prado, Kent Ian Landa, and Sheryl Moana Marie Ollamina of Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School finished in second while Pantukan National High School’s Winnajean Calanday, Jenny Gayangan, and Jhoannie Morales rounded out the top 3 podium finishers.
The event, which drew 13 schools and 39 Senior High School (SHS) students, ‘aims to develop a sense of belongingness and interdependence among Comvaleños through the spirit of playful academic competitions’.
Among the other competing teams were Monkayo National High School, New Bataan National High School, Atty. Orlando S. Rimando National High School, Assumption Academy of Compostela, Mapawa National High School, Paloc Natioanal High School, Compostela Christian School, Legacy College of Compostela, Bantacan National High School, and Andap National High School.
CVSC President Dr. Christie Jean V. Ganiera expressed her elation with the great turnout for the maiden edition of the activity and also assured that this is only the beginning of what will be an annual academic tilt pitting the brightest SHS of Compostela Valley.
