In lieu of memorandum circular no. 8, series of 2011 as well as the college’s drive towards fostering holistic development of its workforce, Compostela Valley State College organized Zumba sessions and sports activities for its faculty and non-teaching personnel which kicked off last July 8, 2016.
The said memo, issued to encourage all government entities including State Colleges and Universities (SUC’s) to develop and adopt a physical fitness program for its faculty and staff, officially started its effectivity last July 11, 2016.
Led by CVSC president Dr. Christie Jean Ganiera, the instructors and the staff took part in the two-hour physical activities which starts at three in the afternoon, and is scheduled every Friday. They are given freedom to choose what event they want to participate in.
During the inaugural implementation, most of the female personnel joined the Zumba exercise while the male teachers and staff strut their wares in the volleyball and basketball games. The attendance, meanwhile, was checked by the staff of the Human Resources (HR) Office to ensure the participation of everyone.
Moreover, it is hoped that the said undertaking will become a fixture in the weekly schedule of the college as the potential results are largely positive. Also, other activities are eyed to be included in the future to make exercising more fun and interesting.
